James Madison lands Kelly Turner!

Kelly Turner has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the James Madison Dukes this coming fall.  Kelly is currently in the midst of her 3rd year playing on Magic, for coaches Rob and Candi Werkmeister.  In addition to her club play, Kelly is a three-time Gold Medalist in the N.Y. Empire State Games and three-time All-State selection for Wayne Central.

James Madison coach Disa Garner is extremely excited to welcome Kelly to the James Madison family.  “Kelly is a dynamic, fast, and hard-working middle blocker.  She has a great focus and discipline, which will take her far in the collegiate game.  I am anxious to get her in the lineup due to the level of speed that she will bring to our offense.  I also look forward to training her to be a middle that plays both front and back row.  She should be an immediate contributor.”

In addition to her future coach, Kelly can’t wait to get to the beautiful James Madison campus!  “I chose JMU because it was everything I was looking for...It wasn’t too far away from home, it offered the majors I am considering, and I loved the campus when I visited it. It was also great meeting all of the girls and the coaches, I felt very comfortable around them, they all made me feel like I would be a welcomed addition to their team and I felt that I could contribute to the success of the team and have a lot of fun.
Congratulations Kelly!

Allie Nickel commits to the Huskies!

Allie Nickel has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for coach Holly Strauss and the University of Connecticut Huskies!  Allie is in the midst of her second year on Magic, and has starred for the Fairport Red Raiders all throughout her high school career.  Allie is extremely excited to travel to Storrs and start the season.  “I choose UCONN because I was looking for a school that had great academics and a strong tradition in athletics. Playing in the Big East has always appealed to me.  The moment I stepped on campus and got to know the players and coaches I knew this was the place for me. I'm really excited to be able to play in the northeast and compete against some great schools.”

Coach Strauss is also looking forward to getting Allie on campus.  “Allie is full of energy and hard work,” said Strauss.  “Over the past year and a half, she has grown as a volleyball player and is now ready for the next level of competition.  Her height, combined with her work ethic and athleticism, will add tremendous depth and competition in the middle position.”
