VFX "Summons" a Finals Appearance in the NFVB 15s Kick-off

VFX Summon (152) had their first tournament experience together on February 5, 2006 in Buffalo.

After a shaky start, dropping the first 9 points, the coaches called a timeout, regrouped the players and rallied the troops. Summon then stormed all the way back to win the game 25-23! They finished second in their first pool going 1-1.

In their first match of the second pool, they split the first 2 games. Trailing game three 8-10, Allison Knothe served 7 in a row (the last 3 were aces) to win the game. They went 1-1 in pool two for another second place.

In the first round of bracket play, Summon matched up against fellow VFX team, Conjure (141). Summon won the close and exciting match to advance to the semifinals. Moving on to the finals, the team came out fired up and took the first game from a strong Niagara Frontier 14 Red. After taking that game 25-22, Summon dropped games two and three 25-11, 15-11 to end their playoff run.

A nice run for the first tournament!

The team is now preparing to bring some Western New York Volleyball to Columbus next week.
