News: Mantra Shows Well at Winter Classic

VFX 16-1’s attended the Girl’s 18 & U Rochester Winter
Classic on March 20th at West Irondequoit High School. The tournament,
which was co-sponsored by Western NY Storm VBC hosted ten 18 & U teams
from Upstate NY. Mantra finished first in their pool after defeating Cougar
18 Claws, Camillus Cats 18-1, Liverpool 18 and Camillus Cats 18-2. In
the semi-finals they faced the seasoned Niagara Frontier 18's. The girls
worked hard in their last match with Alison Schroeder stepping up to set
for Liz Carroll who was called away mid afternoon. Mantra ended the day
third. “It was great to play in an 18's tournament” said Blair
Atkins “ It will help us to be more prepared for next weekend when
we go to the Big South Qualifier next weekend in Atlanta.”
