Volley FX made their first ever appearance at the Colorado Crossroads Qualifier this past weekend at the Denver Convention Complex. Magic 18-1’s entered the tournament ranked 22 out of 43 teams in the 18 Open Division. “We were excited to come to play, we knew that the competition was going to be solid but we were looking to test ourselves against some tough West Coast and Mid-West Teams” said Senior Molly Malone.

The competition WAS tough, and in their first pool Magic struggled and finished 4th facing off against Gold Cal Jrs, NORCO 18-1 Black and eventual tournament champion Nebraska Juniors 18. They faced some solid competition all day and Magic had to rally hard with Senior Middle Blocker Rachel Smith out with the flu. “It was so hard for me to come all this way and then to watch from the bench.”

Day two had Magic up against Nebraska Elite NIVA, AMV 18 Tyler's, and Team Yakima U-18 Gold. The girl’s again came together taking AMV 18 Tyler's to three games before winning game three 15 – 12. Magic lost in their second match against Nebraska Elite NIVA with the second game ending 26 – 24. The battle continued in the third match against Team Yakima U-18 Gold and it was back and forth the whole way with Magic losing game two 25 – 23.

Magic finished 43rd overall after taking 2 matches on the final day one from Club Irie 18's and one from Club Idaho U18Gold and winning Flight 4. “This was such a great tournament,” said Kate Love. “ We had the opportunity to play teams that are never at the East Coast tournaments, and all of us learned a great deal that will help us prepare for the Tampa Bay Qualifier next weekend in Atlanta!”
