Volley FX Mantra 16-1’s traveled to Baltimore on April 1 –
3 for the ASICS Northeast Qualifier. This was a back-to-back tournament
for Mantra after their appearance at the Big South Qualifier in Atlanta.
Mantra opened on Day One winning 6 straight games against Quest, Bava
and Attack finishing first in their pool. “We were well prepared
for the Qualifier after competing in Atlanta last weekend” said
Outside Hitter Heather Lieberman. “It felt good to finish day one
so well.” Mantra also came out strong on day two, beating Fusion
quickly in 2 games. In their second match Mantra went three against Time
Out losing the first game but coming back 27-25 and 15-9 in games two
and three. In the last match of the day Mantra again went to three games
with St. Louis CYC but once again won game three 15-10 placing them first
in their pool. Day three had Mantra in the top 16 in the Gold finals.
In their opening match Mantra went head to head with Victory 16 National
Team, again the match went to three games but Victory 16 National would
take the lead in the end. Mantra finished 9th overall at the qualifier
and will continue their quest next weekend at the WEVA Regionals. “These
past two tournaments have helped us to better prepare for Regionals,”
said Libero Alison Schroeder “we are looking forward to another
great weekend of Volleyball.”
