News: VFX Proves Excellence with Hall of Famer!

Candi Werkmeister inducted into University of Buffalo Hall of Fame.
Each year the University of Buffalo Alumni Association honors a select group of University of Buffalo athletes through an election to the University of Buffalo Athletic Hall of Fame. This year Candi Werkmeister was one of five alumni inducted. A 1997 graduate with a BS in Management, Candi stayed at UB to earn her second degree in 1999 with an MBA in Accounting. As an athlete, Candi was a Volleyball standout during her 4-year tenure with the Bulls. She was an instant starter her freshman year and held that position each season, playing Rightside, 5-1 Setter and 6-2 Setter. Her roll was invaluable to her team, and her accolades included:
- Candide was one of the most complete players in UB Volleyball history and at the time of her induction, she ranked in the top ten in eleven of fifteen career statistical categories.
- She was a first team Mid-Continent Conference selection in her three final seasons of competition and a member of the Mid-Con's 1996 all-tournament team.
- Candide captained the team as a senior and also was heavily involved on the Intercollegiate Athletic Advisory Board and Student Advisory Council.
- Nobody played in as many games (503) as Candide in her UB Volleyball career.
- During her career, the UB Volleyball team placed itself in the top nine in eight of a potential ten all-time statistical categories.
- Her highest career placings were seconds in block assists and total blocks and a third in assists.
Candi will be permanently recognized on the Athletic Hall of Fame wall in Alumni Arena, forming a continuing reminder of the importance of athletes and athletics to the University of Buffalo.
Congratulations Candi, you truly demonstrate exemplary athletic and professional ability not only to the University of Buffalo but also to VolleyFX!
