In the first "junior club" tournament of the year, VFX came out big and represented the region with 3 teams finishing well in the winners bracket of the UB Women's Club Tournament.
First out with Illusion, who had a good day with splits with Rapture and WNY Storm early in pool play. Facing sister-team Magic in the Quarterfinals, they took it to them early fighting ahead to a 20-18 lead before Magic finished it out 30-24.
Next was Rapture who coming up the other side of the bracket faced Gannon College Women's team, who in a heartbreaker lost 28-30. Finishing 3rd on a day that saw them do well, Rapture looked to be a solid 17's team in the region.
Finally, in their 3rd finals in as many tournaments, Magic looked to finish the 2004 Fall schedule strong with a win. Facing Gannon College, after splitting with them 26-24, 23-25 in pool play, was a bittersweet match-up. This time youth would prevail as the Magic team showed that they learned lessons from their previous tourneys and took it to Gannon, and took home the Championship!
